Described as a move to further streamline and consolidate television operations, Universal Family Entertainment and Universal Cartoon Studios have been folded into the operations of MCA Television Entertainment (MTE).
Barbara Fisher, president of MTE, will take on all family entertainment activities in addition to her current duties.
Universal Family Entertainment president Jeff Segal steps down from that position, but will continue to develop and produce projects for the MCA Television Group.
UFE projects that will now shift to MTE include Casper, a series airing on Fox Children’s Network; Earthworm Jim, airing on Kids WB; and Savage Dragon, a USA Network show.
MTE is involved in such TV shows as the event miniseries Peter Benchley’s The Beast, which aired on NBC April 28 and 29, and Twilight Man, which airs on June 15 on the Starz! pay cable network.
