Kids marketers tap Star Power
On May 21, 4,500 brand managers, promotion experts and quick-service restaurant gurus will convene at the Star Power conference in Universal City, California to discuss entertainment-based promotions and check out properties from film studios, networks, cable channels and interactive companies. At this six-year-old meeting of the promotional minds, numerous celebrities make an appearance in conjunction with promotional opportunities.
The two-day event includes speakers Bob Levin, president of worldwide marketing at Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Sue Klug, senior vice president of the Vons Companies, discussing the use of entertainment properties. A luncheon titled ‘Power Mix’ offers marketers an opportunity to meet with studio players and others in the industry, as well as a trip on Jurassic Park the Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood. Director J’el Schumacher whose credits include Batman Forever and The Client hosts a lunch addressing the value of entertainment tie-ins. Attendees will also catch a sneak screening of what is being billed as one of the summer’s big event movies The Lost World: Jurassic Park.
