New York-based Kideo Productions, a developer and marketer of personalized media products, has signed an exclusive five-year agreement to produce personalized home video titles based on the Barney & Friends characters.
This marks the first time a well-known entertainment property has been licensed for personalized home videos.
The product will digitally convert a child’s photograph into an animated character, who will then appear alongside Barney throughout the episode. The child’s name will be included on the packaging, in the dialogue and in song lyrics.
The launch of the personalized videos will coincide with the release of the first Barney feature film in April.
