*Shari Lewis serves Lamb Chop to Golden Books

Golden Books Family Entertainment has acquired the outstanding stock on the privately held Shari Lewis Enterprises, headed by children’s entertainer Shari Lewis. The Shari Lewis library includes books, television specials, films and videos featuring Lewis’ characters Lamb Chop, Charlie Horse and Hush Puppy.

The deal also gives Golden Books the distribution rights for The Charlie Horse Music Pizza, a new 40-episode series scheduled to premiere on PBS in January.

*Tapestry and NWP ink deal

New York-based specialty programming distributor Tapestry International has inked a deal to exclusively arrange the co-production of all documentary and children’s output for National Wildlife Productions (NWP). Tapestry will also serve as international distributor of NWP’s documentary and children’s programming.

National Wildlife Productions is the television and multimedia arm of the Washington, D.C.-based National Wildlife Federation, whose mandate is to educate Americans about conservation issues.

*TNT & Cartoon Network go down under

Austar and Turner International have reached an agreement to expand TNT & Cartoon Network in Australia. The 24-hour network, which is seen throughout Asia, will now reach an additional 150,000 subscribers throughout Australia, bringing the total to over 600,000 viewers.

Turner International is the distribution arm of Turner Broadcasting System. Austar is Australia’s largest regional pay-TV company.
