A new worldwide cross-licensing deal inked between Warner Bros. and Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) will eventually see Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and the rest of the Looney Tunes family of animated characters show up on a wide range of licensed tie-in products.
The cross-licensing agreement with CART, the major open wheel, Indy car-racing sanctioning organization, is the latest instalment in Warner Bros.’ efforts to develop sports-related cross-licensing programs for its Looney Tunes characters. Previous programs have been developed with Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League, the National Football League and the National Basketball Association.
Under the terms of the CART agreement, the program will seek licensees in all product categories. Channels of retail distribution include mass-merchant, mid-tier and department stores.
In related news, Warner Bros. Family Entertainment and Wendy’s have revealed plans to release two new Pinky and the Brain videos with a six-week kids meal promotion, scheduled to launch in November.
Eight million US$1-off coupons will be distributed through the kids meal program, which will be promoted on Kids WB! and through in-store POP support.
