HarperCollins Children’s Books and Golden Books Family Entertainment have both signed on with Twentieth Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising to publish children’s books tied in to Fox’s upcoming feature-length animated film, Anastasia.

The HarperCollins publishing program includes 12 titles, aimed at kids age three to 12, featuring mid-range and high-end picture books, as well as a musical diary, a storybook with a necklace and a paperback novelization, for an expected combined first printing of 1.5 million units.

Golden Books’ Anastasia collection will feature storybooks, sound books, coloring and activity books, easy-to-read movie storybooks and educational workbooks. The lineup will include Golden Books’ newest formats, such as Extra Smart Pages, which provide ‘in-the-pages’ sound technology, and Read & Wear, which offer movie character images on a clip kids can wear.

The publishing companies will coordinate their promotional retailing efforts, such as joint point-of-purchase materials and an in-store party kit.
