Equity Toys has signed a three-year agreement with Universal Consumer Products Group for the worldwide master toy license for Babe in Metropolis, the sequel to the Oscar-winning film Babe. Equity Toys has worldwide rights to design, manufacture, market and distribute toys based on the original film and the sequel. Babe in Metropolis is scheduled for release during the 1998 holiday season.

*Cookie Monster gets some satisfaction

U.K.-based The Licensing Company (TLC) has signed the first-ever cookie license for Sesame Street on behalf of Children’s Television Workshop. Fox’s Biscuits in the U.K. will produce three varieties: the letter-shaped Alphabics, the lunch box-sized Big Bird’s Snack Tub Buddies and the Cookie Monster Chocolate Chip Cookies.

*Mighty Mouse sings for new licensees

Viacom Consumer Products has signed five new licensing deals for the operatic superhero Mighty Mouse. The Planet will produce apparel, American Greeting Corporation and Midwest of Cannon Falls are on board for Christmas ornaments, Kemp Balloons will create a 68-foot Mighty Mouse parade balloon and A&A Plush will create plush toys.

*Sing along with the Grinch

Nick at Nite Records, Sony Wonder and Sony 550 Music have partnered once again to follow up on the success of its Christmas `96 release A Classic Cartoon Christmas to create A Classic Cartoon Christmas, Too. The new CD contains classics such as ‘Heat Miser’ and ‘Snow Miser’ from The Year Without a Santa Claus and ‘Silver and Gold’ from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. A Classic Cartoon Christmas, which features ‘You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch’ from How the Grinch Stole Christmas, will be re-released at the same time.
