U.S. Olympic gold medalist figure skater Tara Lipinski is taking a shot at promoting a new Snapple product in a quirky hockey-themed campaign.

‘Take a Shot at Something New’ promotes Snapple Refreshers, lighter tasting, less sweet versions of the beverage giant’s juices, teas and sports drinks. Grocery store POP material features a smiling Lipinski sporting a Snapple jersey and hockey stick, tied to a contest whose grand prize is a chance to skate with the rink world’s newest darling. Other prizes include autographed skates, hockey jerseys and copies of Lipinski’s book. Putting the petite athlete in oversized hockey gear is in keeping with Snapple’s reputation for having off-the-wall campaigns. But what is predictable is that the White Plain, New York-based beverage company will attract a lot of moms who consider the perky teen a positive role model for their kids.
