Alliance Communications UK Limited (London, England, 44-171-391-6910): Executive VP and COO Bill Dawson is the new executive VP and managing director, European operations.

BBC Worldwide (London, England, 44-181-743-8000): Mike Phillips is the new director of international television. He will be responsible for acquisition of programs from the BBC and independent producers.

Cartoon Network Netherlands (London, England 44-171-478-1015): Mathieu Nagerlkerke has been appointed VP, channel operations and distribution. He will be responsible for programming, marketing, research and public relations for the network.

Children’s Television Workshop (New York, New York, 212-595-3456): Nan Halperin has been named VP, marketing partnerships for the magazine publishing group. She will oversee the production of CTW’s publications, as well as developing new alliance partnerships for the company. Halperin was previously VP, home video at CTW.

CoolWorks (Valencia, California, 805-287-9995): Gene Del Vecchio, youth marketing expert and author of Creating Ever-Cool, A Marketer’s Guide to a Kid’s Heart, has formed his own youth consulting firm. The agency will help clients maintain existing brands, as well as develop new franchises. Del Vecchio was previously senior partner and director of planning and research at Ogilvy & Mather in Los Angeles.

Digital Domain (Venice, California, 310-314-2800): Debra Streiker-Fine has been named president of the visual effects company’s interactive media division. She was previously president and CEO of Cloud 9 Media.

Discovery Channel (Bethesda, Maryland, 301-986-1999): Sheila Arnold joins the network as president of Discovery Channel retail. She will be responsible for translating Discovery’s brand of educational programming into the retail environment.

Discovery Communications (Bethesda, Maryland, 301-986-1999): Roseanne Lopopolo is the new surpervising producer at Discovery. She was formerly a production executive at Nickelodeon.

Disney Channel (Burbank, California 818-569-7500): Scott Seviour has been promoted to director of talent development. He will be responsible for all aspects of talent relations and guest bookings for Disney Channel projects, as well as programming and on-air department needs. He was previously manager of talent relations for Nickelodeon and Nick at Nite.

Fox Family Worldwide (Los Angeles, California, 310-235-5100): Heather Somaini is the new director of talent relations and on-air promotions. She will coordinate celebrity appearances and acquire music videos to air on Fox Family and Fox Kids. She was previously production manager, on-air promotions at Fox Kids.

Fox Kids Network (Los Angeles, California, 213-856-1800): Roland Poindexter has been named VP, programming and development. He was formerly director of programming and development. Jerome Kramer will take over the newly created position of VP, planning and investor relations.

Mayfair Television Entertainment (London, England, 44-171-304-7911): MTE chief executive Daniel Weinzweig will temporarily assume acquisitions and sales responsibilities previously held by Allison Rayson, MTE’s former managing director, who is leaving to pursue other interests. Rayson is launching an as yet unnamed television distribution company to be based in London, England.

Nickelodeon International (London, England, 44-171-478-5200): Karen Flischel has been named managing director. She will oversee the operation of all Nickelodeon Networks, including those in the U.K., Australia and Latin America, as well as the programming blocks in Israel, the Middle East, Italy and Iceland. She will based in London, England.

Penguin Children’s Books (London, England, 44-171-416-3000): Richard Scrivener has been promoted to publishing director of media and popular non-fiction.

Portfolio Entertainment (Toronto, Canada, 416-483-9773): Marina Cordoni is the new head of sales and acquistions for the Canadian production and distribution company. She was formerly VP, international for Norstar Entertainment in Toronto.

Sci-Fi Channel Europe (London, England, 44-171-805-6100): Janet Goldsmith has been appointed managing director of Sci-Fi Channel Europe. Prior to joining the Universal Studios Network, she was managing director of Carlton Select and Carlton Food Network in the U.K.

Scottish Media Group Plc: SMG’s deputy chairman Calum MacLeod will temporarily oversee operations as a result of the recent departure of chairman Gus MacDonald. MacDonald has taken a position with the U.K. government as a minister of state for trade and the Scottish office.

Telescene Film Group (Montreal, Quebec, 514-737-5512): Diane Arcand has been promoted to head of production. She joined Telescene last year as associate head of production.

Toon Boom Technologies (Montreal, Canada, 514-278-8666): Joan Vogelesang has been named COO of the Canadian animation software company.

Toy Manufacturers of America (New York, New York, 212-675-1141): Joan Lawrence has been appointed director of standards and regulatory affairs. She was previously a department manager for FAO Schwartz.

Video Software Dealers Association (Encino, California, 818-385-1500): Carrie Dietrich has been promoted to assistant VP, membership at VSDA. She was previously director of special projects.

VIP (Paris, France, 33-14-770-7300): Patricia de Wilde joins the company as head of development. She will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with licensors.

The Walt Disney Company (Burbank, California, 818-265-6500): David Stainton has been promoted to senior VP of creative affairs for the feature animation division. He will relocate to Paris to oversee production of projects from WDFA’s studio in France. Stainton was previously VP, creative affairs.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products (Burbank, California, 818-954-6000): Kelly Gilmore has been promoted to VP, toys and theme park licensing. She will oversee the branding and character usage in 31 theme parks, including 12 Six Flags operations. She previously served as director of licensing at Warner Bros. Consumer Products.

Warner Bros. Online (Burbank, California, 818-977-7900): Harry Medved is the new director of public relations. He will oversee the development of publicity campaigns for WB sites, as well as organizing interviews and speaking engagements for WB Online executives.

YTV (Toronto, Canada, 416-534-1191): Gina Remy has been appointed manager, business affairs, programming and production. She will oversee all co-productions, as well as internal YTV productions.

Correction: The July issue of KidScreen stated that Michael Fleming was VP, network operations for Turner Entertainment Group in Los Angeles. He is actually the new VP, network operations with Turner Entertainment Networks International in London, England.
