European producers are heading for MIPCOM with a batch of animation projects that just received their first public outing at Cartoon Forum in Greece last month.

Among the companies taking pilots are U.K.-based Telemagination which will present two concepts aimed at the six- to nine-year-old market. The first, Catastrophy Jones, tells the story of an amoral cat who is ‘the perennial victim of his own adventures,’ says Telemagination managing director John Mills. The second is a reworking of an idea that was first shown at Cartoon Forum two years ago under the title Da Vinci. The show returns as Blunderbuss with a new pilot financed by Telemagination.

Link Entertainment also has two projects fresh from launch at Cartoon Forum. These are Preston Pig, a joint venture with Varga tvc, and Ethelbert the Tiger, which is a co-production with Millimages of France. MIPCOM is also a chance for Link to inform the market of the promotion of Geneviève Dexter to head of sales and acquisitions after joining Link just one year ago as sales manager for the U.K., France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Japan.

AB Productions of France is also bringing two new series to the market in search of co-production partners. The first, Chris Colorado, is a 26 x 30-minute series being developed for Canal+. The concept, which combines 2-D and 3-D animation, is a futuristic series in which the eponymous hero battles with a clandestine organization called The 666 Group.

The second project is a 26 x 26-minute series called Superbaron, which is loosely based on the mythical adventures of Baron Munchausen. AB is actively seeking a German partner.

Finally, Norway’s Happy Life, which created Three Friends and Jerry, is also introducing a 13 x five-minute preschool series called Lisa. The show centers around a five-year-old girl’s inner thoughts about her colorful neighbors.
