AARGH! Animation (Orlando, Florida, 407-370-3190): Jeanne Simon has been named head writer at AARGH! She is a former producer for Nickelodeon and was previously a writer at Disney. Also Mark Simon and David Kallaher will now oversee all animation as co-directors.
Children’s Television Workshop (New York, New York, 212-595-3456): Jenny Lam has been appointed to the newly created position of senior China director of CTW’s international television group. As such, Lam will oversee all of the company’s initiatives in China. Prior to joining, Lam was director of project management for Scholastic Entertainment’s The Magic School Bus. Also at CTW, Janice Hearty has been promoted to VP of public affairs and communications, up from director of government affairs.
Davidson Marketing (Chicago, Illinois, 312-527-3900): Olivia Scott has been appointed entertainment marketing specialist. Scott will focus on music marketing opportunities targeted to teens for clients in Davidson’s expanded entertainment marketing department.
DIC Entertainment (Burbank, California, 818-955-5400): Laura Stone Walstone was named DIC’s director of international licensing. She is the former VP of OH! NO! Inc.
Disney Channel (Burbank, California, 818-569-7500): Tom O’Brien has been promoted to director, standards and practices. O’Brien is now responsible for overseeing Disney Channel and Toon Disney programming. He was manager of scheduling for Disney Channel’s programming department before the promotion.
Ellipsanime (Paris, France, 33-1-44-74-3232): Marie-Pierre Moulinjeune has joined as deputy director of international development and co-productions by the Canal+ animation studio. Formerly at Télé-Images, France 2, Canal J and DIC Animation, Moulinjeune will be responsible for developing and supervising the production of animated movies and TV series for international distribution.
Film Roman (Hollywood, California, 818-761-2544): Mark Lieber joins as president, domestic TV development and distribution. Lieber was previously senior VP, children’s programming at PolyGram, where he helped develop and sell hit series Maisy (Nick), as well as Barney’s First Adventure (PBS, Fox Kids). Also, William Shpall is Film Roman’s new COO. Shpall is the former CFO of Carolco Pictures.
Fox Family Worldwide (Los Angeles, California, 310-235-9700): Richard Gire is Fox Family’s first senior VP, business and legal affairs. Eden Mitchell has been appointed to director of markets and special events. She will be responsible for organizing more than 30 trade shows a year, as well as Fox Family meetings and events.
Hallmark Entertainment (New York, New York, 212-977-9001): Lynn Holst is Hallmark’s new senior VP, development.
Hasbro Interactive (Beverly, Massachusetts, 978-921-3700): Gilman Louie, board chairman at recently acquired Microprose, has been appointed Hasbro Interactive’s chief creative officer. Louie will oversee creative concepts and interactive games.
Interactive Television Entertainment-USA (Santa Monica, California, 310-311-9110): Amy Meyers has joined ITE-USA as VP, business development. She will be responsible for creating business opportunities for the Danish company in North America. Meyer was formerly senior VP of acquisitions at Lou Scheimer Productions. Also, David Wells has been appointed chief financial officer. Wells was formerly the CFO for HSO Business Systems, and will be in charge of all financial and business relationships.
The Jim Henson Company UK (London, England, 44-171-428-4000): Helen Blayney comes aboard as sales executive for Scandinavia, Benelux, Austria, Switzerland, South Africa and the Mediterranean. Prior to the appointment, Blayney held the same post at Primetime Television Associates. Matthew Basham joins Henson from Minotaur as the technical coordinator. Also, Victoria Gregson was upped from sales assistant to sales exec for Eastern Europe, Middle East, Ireland, New Zealand, Portugal, Asia, Latin America and airlines.
MediaWorks International (Los Angeles, California, 323-634-6595): Vera Golakova has been hired as manager of worldwide sales and acquisitions.
Moody Communications (New York, New York, 212-244-4220): Alexandra Levi is Moody’s new VP, entertainment. Levi was formerly CFO of Boss Models. Her new responsibilities include managing and staffing Moody’s entertainment division and overseeing all production functions. In particluar, Levi will be concentrating on managing a project for new client Fox Family Channel.
National Geographic Television (Washington, D.C., 202-857-7680): Andrew Wilk has been named executive VP, programming and production. In this newly created position, Wilk will be responsible for overseeing all non-fiction programming at NGT, including all kids properties. Wilk has been with the company since 1990, and was most recently senior VP of programming and production. In 1993, he spearheaded the initiation of children’s programming into NGT’s project slate.
New Line Video (New York, New York, 212-649-4952): Matt Lasorsa is New Line’s new VP, promotions and publicity. Michele Bell has been appointed VP of the new creative services department. Also at New Line, Steve Ramirez was promoted to VP, marketing sell-through, while Beth Gunderia was upped to executive director of marketing, rental.
ProSieben (Munich, Germany, 49-89-9507-1180): Borris Brandt is the new head of programming. Prior to the promotion, Brandt was responsible for domestic features and TV movies.
Scholastic Entertainment (New York, New York, 212-343-7500): Arlene Chernenko has been promoted from executive director of Scholastic Entertainment Distribution to VP of the division. She will now oversee sales of SE Distribution’s consumer products and the distribution of books via mail.
Sony Wonder (New York, New York, 212-833-8100): Michael Kushner has been appointed senior VP, business development at Sony’s children’s recordings division. Before the appointment, Kushner served as VP, business and operations at Crave Records.
Southern Star (Sydney, Australia, 61-2-9202-8555): Kym Druitt has been promoted to manager of marketing and publicity. Druitt now covers TV distribution, new media, video, film sales and licensing in Australia and abroad.
SPI International (New York, New York, 212-673-5103): Jodi Ann Heller has joined as director of acquisitions and co-productions. She will oversee the acquisition of animation for the company’s catalog, seek out new co-production projects and maintain current properties including Baydog, The Children of Toromiro and Goofballs.
Target Distribution (London, England, 44-171-323-4833): Buster Langdon has been named business development manager at Target. He will be looking to recruit new producers for Target, as well as to develop relationships with established ones.
Toys `R’ Us (Paramus, New Jersey, 201-262-7800): Francesca Brockett has been appointed senior VP, strategic planning and business development. Brockett was formerly senior VP, strategic planning at Tricon Global Restaurants, which oversees the Pizza Hut, KFC and Taco Bell chains.
TVOntario (Toronto, Canada, 416-484-2600): Pat Ellingson has been named creative head of children’s and daytime programming. Ellingson has been at TVOntario since 1994, most recently as acting head of children’s programming. In her new post, she will be responsible for filling over 60 hours a week of kids time slots.
Twentieth Century Fox International Television (Los Angeles, California, 310-369-3300): Suzanne Krajewski has been named senior VP, marketing, promotion and publicity. In her new role, Krajewski will oversee the management of marketing for new channel development.
Universal Studios (Universal City, California, 818-777-1000): Cynthia Cleveland has been named president, Universal Studios Consumer Products Group. She will tend to the growth of Universal’s consumer products global strategy across all divisions. Cleveland, with Universal since early 1996, has helped to establish offices for the Consumer Products Group in Canada, the U.K., Germany, France and Japan. Robert Brisco has been hired as president of the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park, Universal Studios CityWalk, as well Universal City Cinemas. He will oversee all aspects of Universal’s L.A.-based landmarks, from finance to food service.
Viacom Consumer Products (Hollywood, California, 213-956-5000): Roupen Puzantian is now executive director, international licensing, and will be responsible for the division’s Toronto, Dusseldorf and London offices. Additionally at Viacom, Allison Thielke has been appointed manager, international licensing. Also C. Steve Booth, Heather Cooper and Christina Brutocao have joined VCP’s sales team, as director of sales, manager of sales, and sales supervisor, respectively. David McCoart joins as the company’s first ever VP, restaurants. McCoart will spearhead work in this licensing arena.
Warner Bros. Consumer Products (Burbank, California, 818-954-7890): Karen Weiss has been promoted to senior VP of apparel for licensing and studio stores. She will be responsible for buying, product development and planning in soft goods for the studio stores. In addition, Weiss will retain her responsibilities for North American licensed apparel sales.
Warner Bros. Feature Animation (Glendale, California, 818-977-7600): Tom Sito has left his head of story job at DreamWorks Feature Animation to join Warner Bros., possibly in a directing role on the feature Osmosis Jones.
Warner Bros. International Television (Burbank, California, 818-954-6000): Mara Sternthal is now VP of international television planning and development. Formerly, Sternthal was VP of corporate development at Sony Pictures Entertainment.
ZDF Enterprises (Mainz, Germany, 49-61-31-9910): Reinhold Elschot has been promoted to president of operations. His former position was executive director of made-for-TV movies.
