Montreal’s Cinar and Chicago-based children’s play and learning product manufacturer Learning Curve International have announced a licensing agreement for a line of Wimzie’s House-based wooden preschool toys. The merchandising agreement’s product range includes puzzles, games, felt play sets, foam, activity kits, felt-based interactive storybooks and travel sets. The first items are slated to ship to retailers by the third quarter of 1999, and will be introduced at Toy Fair this month. Wimzie’s House’s growing family of licencees now includes Eden (also for toys), Simon & Schuster Interactive, Sony Wonder (for home videos and music), as well as two U.S. subsidiary operations owned by Cinar-Carson-Dellosa Publishing and HighReach Learning. Currently in its second season in the PBS Ready to Learn programming block, Wimzie’s House was rated third, after Arthur and Barney, among all PBS children’s programs in 1998.
