The National Hockey League has inked a three-year licensing and retail agreement with Toronto, Canada-based clothing store and manufacturer, Roots. The deal will allow Roots to create and market a range of apparel (including lifestyle activewear, gloves and scarves, footwear and luggage) that incorporates the logos and heritage marks of current NHL clubs. Sizes for apparel will be available for kids ages zero to six, and eight to 18. The first wave of product will commemorate the opening of the Toronto Maple Leafs’ new arena, the Air Canada Center, and will be available at Canadian Roots locations beginning this month. Clothing lines for the remaining five Canadian clubs will hit Roots stores in the fall, with merch for the U.S.-based teams to follow in the first half of this year.
