It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s….

a 3-D animation channel

Warner Bros. and Brilliant Digital are teaming up to produce an animated Superman 3-D flick for on-line distribution at the Warner Bros. Entertaindom Web site, which will be up and running at the end of this year. The companies will co-brand the Multipath Movie Channel, a 3-D animation channel set to launch in Q4 `99, which will air Superman: The Menace of Metallo, along with five other productions yet to be named.

Das Werk grabs Trixter

Cologne-based Das Werk, a digital post-production company, has snapped up a 70% share in the newbie Munich-based, 3-D animation specialist Trixter Film. Trixter’s credits include the US$18-million sci-fi flick Heavy Metal F.A.A.K.2, a co-pro with Montreal-based Ciné-Groupe that’s due out next year. The move marks Das Werk’s expansion into film and TV production.

UNICEF Children’s Day

The International Children’s Day of Broadcasting on December 12 is being celebrated by UNICEF through the supply of a programming package to broadcasters worldwide. The package includes live-action spots, logos and graphics, and is available in various languages. Some networks taking on the package are Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Sony Vision, USA Network, Cartoon Network Europe, and Disney in Asia. UNICEF has included a new 66 x 30-second series of its Cartoons for Children’s Rights, available for broadcasters to air throughout the day.
