Acclaim Entertainment (Glen Cove, New York, 516-656-5000): Nigel Cook has been upped to VP and studio head of Acclaim Studio Austin, where he will oversee management of the studio and product releases. Cook was formerly VP of product development and design at the gameco.
Alliance Atlantis (Toronto, Ontario, 416-967-1174): Alan Gregg has been named director of development of AAC Kids. He joins the prodco from a stint at YTV Canada, where he was a production executive.
Columbia TriStar (Los Angeles, California, 310-244-4000): John Cuddihy has been named senior VP of sales for Latin America and the Caribbean at Columbia TriStar International Television. He was most recently VP and managing director for the international arm of A&E Television Networks.
Comedy Central (New York, New York, 212-681-2766): Deborah Liebling has been promoted to senior VP of original programming and development from VP of original programming.
Discovery Kids (Bethesda, Maryland, 301-986-0444): Laura Sullivan has been named VP of marketing. She leaves her senior director of marketing position at Sony Music, where she worked on Sony Wonder’s kid properties. Bilai Joa Silar has been upped to director of programming and operations from her position as production supervisor at Discovery Channel Latin America/Iberia. Travis Pomposello also comes on-board as director of on-air promotions from a recent stint at CBS as a writer in advertising and promotions.
Egmont Imagination (Copenhagen, Denmark, 45-35-86-0586): Tom van Waveren takes over as president of the prodco from his previous position as VP of global business management. In addition, Tatiana Kober has come over from GMG Endemol to head up London-based Egmont Imagination UK as managing director.
EM.TV & Merchandising (Munich, Germany, 49-89-957-150): Sylvia Rothblum joins the board of directors as deputy board member in charge of programming and production. Rothblum was most recently senior VP of production and co-production at the company. Rothblum will now be in charge of program acquisitions. Franz Prinz von Auersperg retired from his position as head of production and marketing on the board of directors to manage his own production company.
Fox Family Channel (Los Angeles, California, 310-235-5100): Matthew Weiss joins the caster as regional VP of Fox Family Channel, New York. Weiss previously served as director of national accounts at MTV Networks. Fred Poston was upped to VP of on-air promotion operations for Fox Family Channel and Fox Kids Network in L.A. from his position as director of on-air promotion production operations.
Fox Kids Network (Los Angeles, California, 310-235-9600): Kathleen Cecil has been named executive director of station relations and promotion from her previous position as sales planner at Turner Broadcasting.
itsy bitsy Entertainment (New York, New York, 212-989-3660): Kimberly Enderle jumped ship from RTV Family Entertainment to head up itsy’s European office in Germany as general manager for Europe. The office opened its doors in February. Enderle will be responsible for TV sales and merchandising for all of itsy’s properties throughout the region. She was most recently manager of international distribution at RTV.
ITV (London, England, 44-171-843-8000): Joan Lofts has signed on as ITV2’s director of broadcasting. Lofts will be in charge of the pay-TV channel’s scheduling strategy and planning. She most recently worked as a consultant for ITV2, and prior to that, was at Disney Channel UK as director of programming and acquisitions.
Marvel Enterprises (New York, New York, 212-696-0808): Bill James returns to the company as president of publishing and new media. James used to be executive VP of Marvel Entertainment Group in 1996. He was most recently executive VP of MSG Sports.
MTV Networks (New York, New York, 212-258-8000): Christina Norman adds senior VP of marketing to her title as senior VP of on-air promotion. Tina Exarhos has also been upped to senior VP of communications and music marketing, and David Cohn takes over the new post of GM of M2, the all-music video channel.
NBA Entertainment (New York, New York, 212-826-7000): Douglas Sosnik joins NBA Entertainment as senior VP of strategic and corporate communications after a six-year stint in The White House as senior advisor to the President for policy and strategy.
Nickelodeon (New York, New York, 212-258-7500): Salaam Coleman moves up the Nick ranks to VP of programming strategy and acquisitions at Nickelodeon and Nick at Nite from his previous post as senior director of program enterprises and acquisitions. Richard Loomis has also been upped to VP of advertising and marketing. He was formerly director of brand and franchise marketing.
Nickelodeon Magazine Group (New York, New York, 212-258-7500): Daniel Sullivan has been upped from VP to senior VP and GM.
Noggin (New York, New York, 212-846-6121): Angela Leaney comes on-board the network as VP of marketing from advertising firm Ogilvy & Mather in L.A., where she was head of planning and research.
Pearson Television (London, England, 44-171-691-6000): Jane Rimer has been promoted from VP to senior VP of sales and development for N.A.
PBS (Alexandria, Virginia, 703-739-5000): Patricia Nugent has been named head of children’s programming at the pubcaster. Nugent will be in charge of entertainment and educational programming for PBS’s Ready to Learn Service. Nugent was most recently the co-producer at Cosby before coming on-board PBS this month, replacing Alice Cahn, now at CTW. Prior to working at Cosby, Nugent was director of production at Jim Henson Productions. Pat Mitchell became CEO and president of PBS last month, replacing Ervin Dugam, who left the post in October. Mitchell was most recently president of CNN Productions and Time Television.
Sony Pictures Consumer Products (Culver City, California, 310-244-7788) Roxsanna Mobley has been appointed director of domestic sales. Mobley will handle licensing and merchandising for apparel, accessories, domestics, stationery and back-to-school products. She was most recently director of domestic licensing at Winterland.
Super RTL (Berlin, Germany, 49-2-219-1550): Claude Schmit has been named managing director of the German kids channel, replacing the late Peter Heimes. Schmit was recently deputy managing director.
Take Two Interactive Software (New York, New York, 212-334-3194): In a move that merged Rockstar Games, DMA Design and the just-acquired Pixel Broadband Studios into the newly formed Broadband Studios, Take Two has announced a slew of new hires to head up the London-based outfit. The new president is Ramy Weitz, formerly CEO of Pixel. Jeffrey Braun, who takes on the role of chairman, was recently in the employ of EA as senior VP of development, and Gary Dale will be the studio’s CEO, moving over from a position as senior VP of international marketing at BMG Entertainment.
Tiger Electronics (Vernon Hills, Illinois, 847-913-8100): Brian Goldner has jumped ship from Bandai America, where he was COO, to join the Hasbro-owned Tiger as COO and senior executive VP. Goldner is poised to take over from president Roger Shiffman as president and COO as of January 1, 2001. Tiger’s current CEO, Randy Rissman, steps down at the end of the year, when Shiffman will take over the CEO title.
Toy Biz (New York, New York, 212-588-5100): John Bohach has been named VP of licensing at the toyco. He was most recently VP of marketing at Huntington Learning Center.
Walt Disney Records (Burbank, California, 818-973-4361): Luigi-Theo Calabrese joins the company as senior VP of Europe, Middle East and Africa. Calabrese will manage licensees, as well as develop product for the territories. He comes from the LTC/Tristar label, distributed by Sony Music, where he was chairman and CEO.
