MONTREAL: Telescene Film Group has announced a record US$102 million production slate as well as a new output deal with Germany media company Tele-Mönchen Group.

The slate includes new productions for Action Adventure Network worth US$55 million including: 22 new one-hour episodes of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Lost World, co-produced with Coote/Hayes Productions and distributed by New Line Television; 20 new hours of Matthew Blackheart: Monster Smasher and four new AAN movie/series pilots to premiere on U.S. DBS service DirecTv. In the output deal, Tele-Mönchen will pick up German-speaking TV rights to the next eight AAN pilots as well as a minimum of one AAN series out of every two. Tele-Mönchen has also agreed to acquire six films.

Telescene executive VP Paul Painter says pre-financing arrangements cover between 65% and 90% of the new slate’s production costs. New production at Telescene includes: 13 x one-hour episodes of the music drama series Live Through This, commissioned by MTV; 26 half hours of the live-action/animation series Door to Door, about a kid with an overactive imagination, co-produced with France’s Tele Images Creation and presold to Family Channel in Canada; 21 new episodes of the YTV/Fox Family sitcom Big Wolf on Campus. In development, Telescene has Hamilton Heat in the series pipe for Nick and To Capture Cody for Discovery Kids.

London-based Carlton International also inked a deal with Tele-Mönchen that includes an agency representation agreement for German-speaking territories for all formats and genres of the Carlton program catalog, which includes about 18,000 hours of programs, including children’s TV series such as the 60s classic Thunderbirds.
