MTV Networks has appointed Bill Roedy to the new post of president of MTV Networks International. Roedy, previously president of MTV/VH1 International, now oversees the international ops of Nickelodeon as well as MTV and VH1. The move is seen as a crucial step to ensuring future growth of MTV Net’s brands around the globe, says Tom Feston, chairman of MTV Networks. The new structure now mirrors that of MTV Net’s U.S. ops, with all division heads reporting to one exec. Roedy will work directly with Karen Flischel, managing director of Nick International, helping to extend Nick’s businesses, which span TV, print and online, into new territories. Currently, Nick’s signal reaches 300 million households worldwide; in the past 18 months, penetration of international territories has increased 45%.
In the U.S., Nick Jr. announced its show-sharing lineup with sisternet CBS. Mid-September Franklin heads home, leading the rest of the Nick Jr. shows as Nick becomes the sole source for CBS’s kids block in a three-year deal that makes CBS Productions a development and promo partner with Nick.
