The Britt Allcroft Company (Southampton, England, 44-170-333-1661): Peter Urie has been named VP group head of production in the U.K. He will also continue in his role as director of business affairs for Media Merchants, which was acquired by Britt Allcroft in March. Urie recently served as a consultant for U.K. broadcasters like ITV, The Family Channel and Flextech.
Carlton International (London, England, 44-207-224-3339): Having come aboard from BBC Worldwide, where she was global brand exec for Teletubbies, Lisa Powell has been appointed brand manager of Thunderbirds at Carlton. Sarah Tear has joined as U.K. licensing manager from a gig as new product development manager at Gemma International, and Emma Chilvers has been upped from international development exec to senior licensing exec, focusing on international markets.
Ciné-Groupe (Montreal, Canada, 514-524-7567): Marie-Claude Beachamp has been given an expanded role as executive VP in charge of development, production financing and distribution. Beauchamp joined Ciné-Groupe last October as VP of development.
Discovery Communications (Bethesda, Maryland, 301-986-1999): Judy Harris comes aboard as senior VP and GM of the Consumer and Educational Products Groups. Prior to joining, Harris served in a variety of product management and marketing roles for Binney & Smith’s Crayola brand.
Disney Consumer Products (Burbank, California, 818-567-5401): Graham Hopper has been named senior VP of global toys for Disney Consumer Products. Hopper joined the Mouse House division in 1991, most recently working in Paris as senior VP of finance and business operations for global licensing.
Disney Music Publishing (Burbank, California, 818-569-3241): Edwin Oliver has joined as creative director and will be charged with scouting for songwriters in the urban, gospel and hip hop genres. Previously, Oliver served as a creative consultant to DMP.
Fox Family Channel (Los Angeles, California, 310-235-5100): Tom Halleen has been shifted from VP of prime-time acquisitions and scheduling to VP of original movies, acquisitions and scheduling. Also, Amy Baker joins as manager of talent relations, acting as a scouting liaison between the channel and record labels. Baker previously served in the same capacity at the Disney Channel.
Fox Family Worldwide (Los Angeles, 310-235-5100): Jamie Chasalow has been upped from director to VP of consumer insight.
Fox Licensing and Merchandising (Beverly Hills, California, 310-369-3900): Lisa Licht has moved from her senior VP of marketing post at Fox International Home Entertainment to fill the same position for the L & M division, and Michael Malone has shifted from senior VP of worldwide sales to senior VP of retail marketing.
Marvel Enterprises (New York, New York, 212-696-0808): To keep up with new licensing business triggered by big-budget feature launches for its X-Men and Spider-Man properties, Marvel has rehired former Marvel exec Russ Brown as senior VP of consumer products, promotions and media sales. Brown previously served as Marvel Entertainment Group’s director of promotions from 1995 to 1997 and then left to join Determined Productions as VP of sales. To assist Brown, Nancyann Volpe has been upped from licensing director to VP of consumer products. In addition to general duties such as soliciting new licensing partners and maintaining brand identity through multimedia development, Volpe will serve as brand manager for the Spider-Man property.
Mattel (El Segundo, California, 310-252-2000): Hoping to pull out of a recent sales slump triggered by gargantuan losses incurred by Mattel interactive games subsidiary The Learning Company, the toyco has tapped ex-Kraft president Robert A. Eckert as its new chairman and CEO. Eckert replaces Jill Barad, who resigned in February.
Nickelodeon (New York, New York, 212-258-8000): Darlene Chapman takes over as VP of promotions for Nickelodeon and Nick at Nite. Prior to the promotion, Chapman was an account director for the Eastern region of affiliate sales and marketing at MTV Networks.
PBS (Alexandria, Virginia, 703-739-5000): Kevin Dando goes from associate director to director of education and on-line communications.
Sesame Workshop-previously Children’s Television Workshop (New York, New York, 212-595-3456): Along with a name change that reflects the company’s expansion into other mediums than TV, the Workshop has upped Julian Scott to the newly created position of VP of creative development. Scott most recently held the title of VP of international production and executive producer for the international TV group. And in streamlining its structure to up its new media action, Karen Gruenberg, SVP strategic and project development, will head up all content areas, charged with charting a path for projects across all media areas as well as growing revenue streams. Also, Marc Schneider (formerly SVP executive operations) has been pegged EVP strategy and business development, tasked with tracking new biz ops.
Sony Pictures Family Entertainment (Los Angeles, California, 310-244-4000): Tracey Tardiff has joined as associate director of marketing, previously working at Columbia Picture Worldwide Marketing as manager of market research. Also, Akiko Kamagai-Kuo comes aboard as director of Internet strategy and marketing. Prior to the move, Kamagai-Kuo worked for Sony Pictures Entertainment as manager of strategic planning.
Stan Lee Media (Encino, California, 818-461-1757): Actor George Hamilton has joined as president of global branded entertainment and will be responsible for tapping top Hollywood talent to develop and provide character voices.
Toy Manufacturers of America (New York, New York, 212-675-1141): The toy trade association has appointed Theodore J. Eischeid (president of Educational Insights) and Patrick Feeley (president of Radica Games) as its newest board officers. New directors include: Neil Friedman (president of Fisher-Price), Gale Jarvis (president of Alexander Doll Company), Gary Masching (CEO of V-Tech Industries), Richard J. Miller (president and CEO of Eden), Robert Pasin (president of Radio Flyer) and Larry Schwarz (president of Rumpus).
Toys `R’ Us (Paramus, New Jersey, 201-262-7800): The toyco has tapped ex-Learningsmith president and CEO Janet Emerson to serve as the new president of the Kids `R’ Us division. Learningsmith was a Massachusetts-based educational toy retailer that shut down ops in January.
Viacom Consumer Products (Hollywood, California, 323-956-5000): Nancy Bassett has been promoted from VP of international licensing to VP of worldwide sales and licensing, and Marc Mostman moves up from director to executive director of domestic licensing.
Warner Bros. Consumer Products (Burbank, California, 818-954-7890): Indra Suharjono has been named regional head of marketing for creative services and retail business development in Greater China and South Asia. Suharjono has been with WBCP since 1995 as regional director of markting and promotions for the Asia Pacific region.
Will Vinton Studios (Portland, Oregon, 503-225-1130): Maria Grasso has been named executive VP of development and will oversee the launch of an L.A. office. Grasso previously served as a development exec for both Warner Bros. Television and Universal.
