THQ resurrects classic Marvel heroes on next-gen platforms

As part of a deal that extends through to 2007, Calabasas, California-based video game studio THQ has picked up the exclusive game rights to classic, TV and film incarnations of a roster of Marvel properties, including Captain America, The Punisher and Nick Fury. The first game to come out of the agreement–The Punisher (working title)–is slated to hit shelves for holiday 2003. THQ and Marvel will also collaborate on upcoming comic book series The Call–based on the adventures of real-life New York City heroes and set to feature popular Marvel Universe characters such as Spider-Man and the X-Men. The comic is expected to hit the market next fall, followed by an interactive title in spring 2004.

Bradford branches out into causes

Bradford Licensing Associates is poised to add color to the licensing market with its newest client, the International Child Art Foundation (ICAF), a Washington-based non-profit organization managing educational programs and initiatives targeted at kids eight to 12. More than two million kids have participated in ICAF programs, providing a deep well of design concepts for Bradford to draw from as it develops the ICAF licensing program. The Foundation’s artwork is available for licensing in domestics, publishing, gifts and novelties, apparel, collectibles and home furnishings.

Global Icons to rep new girl band

Global Icons has signed on to represent the licensing interests of Sony Music/Epic Records girl band 3LW, which has a new album called This Girl Can Mac due out in August. The Los Angeles-based licensing agency is seeking licensees in apparel, accessories, health and beauty, back-to-school, stationery, publishing and toys. Promotional, advertising and sponsorship opportunities are also currently open.

Alicia Keys to open merch doors with Signatures Network

Music merchandising and licensing agency Signatures Network has signed Grammy winner Alicia Keys for concert merchandising, licensing, sponsorships and endorsements. All categories are open as Signatures ramps up to deliver an integrated merchandising and marketing program to support Keys’ hit CD Songs in A Minor and upcoming world tour. Keys joins the likes of teen music sensations Britney Spears and Aaron Carter on Signatures Network’s rep roster.
