Nick UK and France’s Canal J have commissioned a second season of live-action comedy Genie in the House.The next 26 half-hour instalments will go into production later this year for a planned fall delivery.
A joint international production by Paris, France’s MJTV and London, England-based Helion Pictures, the FX-heavy live-actioner has consistently been one of the highest-rated shows on both its UK and French nets since debuting in 2006.
Slapstick storylines feature sisters Emma and Sophie and their attempts to hide the magical Adil from their widower father Phillip.
So far, the show has secured broadcast deals in Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand and parts of Asia, Russia and the Middle East. AB Distribution holds worldwide television rights and will be bringing the second season to MIPTV in April.
