New Spanish-language net V-me launched March 1 throughout the US, as a 24-hour digital network carried by public television stations, basic digital cable and satellite systems.

Kids programming makes up one of its four main content categories. The preschool-heavy preliminary lineup emphasizes educational and Spanish-language content with strong online potential. Series from Sesame Workshop (Sesame Street), HIT Entertainment (Bob the Builder) and Entara (Jakers!) are part of the initial schedule, and the fledgling net has plans to produce original preschool fare in the near future.

V-me will initially find its way into 24 million households in major Hispanic markets including L.A., Miami, Houston, Chicago and San Antonio.
