It’s been quiet on the acquisitions front of late, but London, England’s HIT Entertainment is getting back into the game with Rainbow Magic. The girls publishing property is joining HIT’s stable of preschool brands, and plans are in the works to create TV and consumer products spin-offs in the coming year.

Introduced in the UK in 2003, Rainbow Magic is a 60-plus book series aimed at girls five to nine. Its titles center around the magical adventures of Kirsty and Rachel, as they interact with groups of pixies in Fairyland. The franchise has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, with publishing programs in 20 different languages.

Rainbow Magic creator Working Partners and its publishers, including Scholastic in the US, are now working with HIT to develop new content for additional books, as well as an animated TV series and a range of merch.

Rainbow Magic joins longstanding properties such as Bob the Builder, Thomas & Friends, Pingu and Barney in HIT’s catalogue.
