• Calabasas, California-based Al Ovadia & Associates has sealed two new merch deals for The Annoying Thing aka Crazy Frog: MeadWestvaco Office and Consumer Products has acquired North American, Latin American, Puerto Rican and Caribbean rights to produce all calendars, while Canada’s Les Chocolat Vadeboncouer has signed on to produce 3-D moulded and other chocolates for the country.
• Disney Online is launching D* Concert: Disney Concert Series, a virtual concert series launching exclusively on its Disney Xtreme Digital, high-def broadband platform and will feature Disney Channel-headliners Hannah Montana, The Cheetah Girls and the cast of High School Musical.
• Toronto, Canada-based Cookie Jar Entertainment‘s The Doodlebops is landing on UK airwaves thanks to a deal with ITV; the preschool show will air Saturdays at 6 a.m. on the net’s GMTV! block starting April 7, with a weekday slot on GMTV2 in the works for the summer.
• 9 Story Entertainment, also located in Toronto, has gone into production on 52 x 11-minute digitally animated comedy Best Ed for the ’08 skeds of Canuck tooncaster Teletoon and Cartoon Network UK, and Futz! – a 26 x three-minute, dialogue-free action-comedy which should be completed by September 2007.
• UK-based Target Entertainment has sold Monster Animations’ 39 x seven-minute toon Fluffy Gardens to NRK in Norway, Sweden’s SVT, RTE in Ireland and Cartoon Network UK.
