Robin Corey Books, the latest imprint from Random House Children’s Books, has lined up its inaugural launch list, and the fall slate includes works from bestselling authors and illustrators such as Sandra Boynton, Ron van der Meer and John Stadler. Named for a talented exec who has spent more than 30 years in the kids book biz and developed a knack for elaborate pop-up and novelty formats, RCB is aiming to put out 12 children’s titles a year.
First up is a board book by Boynton entitled What’s Wrong, Little Pookie?, which is set to launch on August 14 with a large initial print run of 100,000 copies. How Many?, a pop-up book by Ron ven der Meer will follow on September 25 with 50,000 copies heading to US retail.
And RCB is also working on a brand-new format that will be unveiled in time for the holidays. Christmas is Coming!, written by Lisa Ann Marsoli and illustrated by Lucy Barnard, will feature five touch-and-feel elements that rotate around a sturdy central wheel encased in the book.
Random House poached Corey last year from Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing, where she was working as EVP and publisher of novelty books, media tie-ins and teen publishing.
