Starz adds HD kids and family channel to line-up

Englewood, Colorado-based Starz Entertainment has announced plans to launch three additional HD channels this August, including Starz Kids & Family, Starz Comedy and Starz Edge.

The nets will complement Starz’s existing HD channel, which focus on recently released and classic movie titles. Starz is the exclusive subscription television and broadband provider of first-run films from studios including Walt Disney Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Pixar and Miramax Films, so family films such as Cars and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest will play into the schedule of Starz Kids & Family.

Starz Entertainment is a premium movie service provider in the US, offering 16 movie channels including flagship Starz and Encore brands, which have roughly 15.5 million and 27.3 million subscribers respectively.
