The coveted 2007 Shaw Rocket Prize was awarded last night to Make Some Noise, a 13 x 30-minute documentary series produced by Vancouver, Canada’s Omni Film Productions.

The doc showcases teens and young adults engaged in the user-generated content wave. While some pick up cameras and risk their lives in war zones, others work on raising funds for suicide prevention hotlines.

An international panel of industry experts in children’s television and media selected the finalist for the US$47,000 prize, aided by a national jury of students in grades six, seven and eight from schools across Canada.

The Shaw Rocket Prize was established in 2005 and is the largest award of its kind in Canada. It’s open to all independent Canadian producers of children’s programming.
Making Some Noise currently airs on Canadian pubcaster the CBC.
