Marking the 15th consecutive year that its Q1 take has exceeded its own forecasts, vidgame giant Activision reported record net revenues of US$1.51 billion for the quarter this year, compared to US$1.47 billion in Q1 ’06.

Besides the strong performance of popular franchises including Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and Tony Hawk’s Project at retail, this better-than-expected growth can be partially attributed to the European launch of Playstation 3. And Robert Kotick, the company’s chairman and CEO, says Activision’s early move to service the next-gen console market was also a factor.

For Q4, the company expects to see net revenues of US$313 million, as compared to US$188 for the same period last year.
