MGM Studio World to be constructed in China

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios has licensed the rights to develop and construct MGM Studio World in Shanghai, China. Shanghai Tianhong Real Estate and Hong Kong-based Tengxun Entertainment Management have ponied up US$157 million to finance the construction of the new MGM-branded lifestyle center.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios has licensed the rights to develop and construct MGM Studio World in Shanghai, China. Shanghai Tianhong Real Estate and Hong Kong-based Tengxun Entertainment Management have ponied up US$157 million to finance the construction of the new MGM-branded lifestyle center.

The proposed site sits in the southern part of the Putuo District in Shanghai. Once completed, 200,000 square-foot park will feature dining, unique retailing and night-time entertainment. The entertainment complex is scheduled to open in the summer of 2010 to coincide with the World’s Fair Expo taking place in China at the same time.
