Although upcoming animated feature Igor isn’t set for theatres until October 24, 2008, The Weinstein Company and the Exodus Film Group have agreed to further produce a slate of CGI feature films, DTVs and TV series, including the sequel Igor 2.
TWC will distribute the titles worldwide, across theatrical, home entertainment and TV markets. And to get the production ball rolling, Exodus is establishing a New York office in addition to its L.A. digs and European operations in Paris.
As for Igor, the comedy that tells the tale of a hunch-backed lab assistant who dreams of winning the Evil Science Fair, publisher Simon & Schuster has picked up the license for its Simon Scribbles and Simon Spotlight imprints and Exodus is actively looking for more licensing and promotional partners. Jeremy Piven, Jay Leno, John Cusack, Jennifer Coolidge, Arsenio Hall, Molly Shannon, Steve Buscemi, John Cleese, Sean Hayes and Christian Slater have all signed on to voice the film.
