Japan’s national pubcaster NHK has snapped up shorts series Naughty Naughty Pets from Toronto, Canada’s Decode Entertainment for its Saturday morning block. In addition, Decode has sold the 26 x three-minute 2-D animated comedy about the shenanigans of misbehaving pets to Mexico’s Canal Once.

The prodco is working on developing a long-form treatment for the series that currently airs on Cartoon Network and Boomerang in the US and the CBC in Canada, which should also expand its merchandising reach. So far, licensing agency The Sharpe Co. has brokered licensing deals in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and the UK, and has recently added Wish (apparel), Fiesta (plush) and American Greetings (stationery) to Naughty’s list of US licensees.
