People moves: Marvel taps Fine to head up new marketing division

Alan Fine is swinging into the newly created position of EVP and chief marketing officer of Marvel Characters, a just-hatched subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment. Marvel has launched the division to oversee the marketing strategy for the brand and its extensive library of characters.

Alan Fine is swinging into the newly created position of EVP and chief marketing officer of Marvel Characters, a just-hatched subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment. Marvel has launched the division to oversee the marketing strategy for the brand and its extensive library of characters.

Fine joined Marvel in 1996 and will remain CEO of Marvel’s publishing and toy divisions while tackling his new role. Fine’s promotion coincides with Marvel Studios’ efforts to increase awareness of its self-produced and financed feature films based on its classic superheros, such as the 2008 releases Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk.
