National Geographic Kids Entertainment is bringing Plantzilla, the children’s book about a boy’s friendship with a mischievous classroom plant, to the small screen. The prodco acquired the rights from the book’s award-winning author Jerdine Nolen and illustrator, David Catrow – both will contribute to the development of the animated series targeting kids six to 11.
Nolen has won awards for her books Raising Dragons and Harvey Potter’s Balloon Farm, and Catrow has illustrated more than 60 children’s books, including New York Times bestseller Ain’t Gonna Paint No More. Writer Mark Drop (Kim Possible, Lilo & Stitch: The Series) is also joining the series creative team.
