French video game publishing biggie Ubisoft saw a threefold increase in net profits for its fiscal 2006-07 year ended March 31, 2007. The company’s haul rose to US$54.4 million from 2005-06’s US$16 million take. Meanwhile, overall revenues rang in at US$608.3 million, a sizable jump from last year’s US$485 million. Sales of games for next-gen consoles, such as Nintendo’s Wii, largely drove the uptick in turnover.
On the kids front Ubisoft released titles for several platforms based on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles this past spring, and it’s rolling out games for Sony’s upcoming CGI feature film Surf’s Up this summer.
