To retail: Urban-themed Skip Hop signs first licensing deal with Bananafish

New York-based infant goods manufacturer Bananafish is tapping into upstart Skip Hop's modern take on baby accessories for a new line of bedding and nursery décor. New York-based infant goods manufacturer Bananafish is tapping into upstart Skip Hop’s modern take on baby accessories for a new line of bedding and nursery décor. The licensing deal is a first for Skip Hop (www.skiphop.com) and the resulting products will target the same design-conscious urban moms and dads, who have taken notice of the company’s stylish diaper bags and changing accessories.

Under the deal, The Betesh Group’s newest division Bananafish will produce bedding sets, comforters, blankets, crib sheets, bumpers, window valances, diaper organizers, decorative pillows and mobiles. And it’s aiming to roll the line out to specialty stores and e-tailers in spring 2008. Prices for four-piece bedding start at US$ 210.

Bananafish’s Skip Hop collection will bow at the ABC Kids Expo being held in Las Vegas from September 7 to 10.
