After getting off to a bang up start with the history-making separate nomination ceremony that took place at the KidScreen Summit in New York this past February, the winners of the Children’s Emmy Awards were announced at the 34th Annual Creative Arts & Entertainment Emmy Awards gala held on June 14 in L.A.

PBS stalwart Sesame Street, produced by Sesame Workshop, took home six trophies, including golden statuettes for Outstanding Pre-School Children’s Series and Outstanding Direction in a Children’s Series. Meanwhile, no single program dominated the animation categories.

Another long-running PBS series Arthur, produced by Cookie Jar Entertainment and WGBH Boston, won Outstanding Children’s Animated Program. And the Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation category ironically ended up in a three-way tie with Nelvana/Nickelodeon preschool co-pro The Backyardigans, sharing the award with Cartoon Network original Ben 10 and CGI series Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks from Mike Young Productions/Entara. Additionally, PorchLight Entertainment’s Tutenstein, which airs on Discovery Kids, took home the award for Outstanding Special Class Animated Program.
