In one of the largest motion picture deals in Indian animation, Toronto-based Kahani World Canada and India-based Accel Animation Studios have agreed to produce three motion pictures and 11 direct-to-DVD productions.

The first DVD being produced under the three-year agreement will be Raju the Auto Rickshaw, which will be ready for distribution by Q3 2007. The DVD will include seven episodes aimed at a preschool audience. Eight additional DVDs are slated to roll out during the course of the deal.

The direct-to-DVDs are employing an episodic format so that the library can later be used for TV syndication and related media sales.
