The future is uncertain for UK-based Hot Animation, the production subsidiary of HIT Entertainment that’s currently working on the latest iteration of Bob the Builder. HIT Spokesperson Nicole Price confirmed that the primarily stop-motion animation studio is in the process of ‘restructuring its operations’ in order to stay competitive.

Although no final decisions have been made, layoffs to the staff of 67 are a possibility once UK regulatory hurdles have been cleared. Price would not comment on reports that Hot’s entire operations would be shuttered by year’s end and that animation for future HIT productions would be outsourced to cheaper animation hubs outside of the UK.

Watch this space for further details in the weeks to come.
