When Power Rangers took to the airwaves in the early ’90s, most adults didn’t know what to think of it, but kids sure did. And as hard to believe as it is, Bandai America’s action-adventure franchise is 15 years old this year. Accordingly, the company is pulling out all the stops to celebrate the milestone.
After two theatrical releases, 13 TV series and 15 toy lines, is setting up an exclusive meet-and-greet with the real-life Power Rangers at Comic-Con in San Diego, as well as celebratory tour scheduled to travel across North America later this year.
Additionally, Bandai is looking to secure Power Ranger’s place in the pantheon of toy properties and has issued a call to arms to nominate the costumed heroes for induction into the National Toy Hall of Fame and Museum. If so inclined, Power Ranger fans can petition the museum at www.strongmuseum.org.
And what would an anniversary be without new merch? Bandai will also be marketing limited-edition anniversary Power Ranger gear, including a Mega Mission Helmet and Red Ranger Figures, which are expected to hit retail later this year.
