UK-based IP owner Galleon Entertainment has greenlit its first production with short-form toon series Apollo’s Pad. In association with Sony BMG, the first six episodes of the 26 x five-minute series that endeavors to bring classic music to a young adult audience are underway.

Each ep features two minutes of gag-based comedy, followed by an animated music video built around of a remixed cover of a hit song perfomed in ‘live’ music venue Apollo’s Pad. The Monkees tune ‘I’m a Believer’ and soul anthem ‘War’ get the pad treatment in the series’ debut. As for the inhabitants of the club, each character personifies a different music genre.

The Apollo’s Pad rich-content website will bow in October and provide streaming, premium downloads and an outlet for user-generated content. Galleon’s hoping to get the series ready for a broadcast debut in 2008.
