It may just be a case of the little engine that could. Joella Productions has appointed BBC Worldwide as its international program sales and merchandising agent for CGI series Underground Ernie.
The deal gives BBCW cross-media rights, including global program distribution, merchandising and DVD, and it will be toting the series, which revolves around the adventures of London tube conductor Ernie and a group of animated subway train engines, to MIPCOM this October.
Created by John Deery and Sid Rainey, Underground Ernie first hit UK airwaves in June 2006. The 26 x 12-minute series is currently in its third run on Cbeebies, and in March 2007, the show attracted 220,000 viewers, scoring an 11% audience share.
