One-liners: Noteworthy news nuggets

• Toronto, Canada-based Shaftesbury Films and iToys have partnered to manufacture a Life with Derek line of electronic hand-held and tabletop games and personal electronics that will start rolling out in Q1 2009.

Disney has greenlit production on Jungle Junction, a CGI preschool series earmarked to air on international Playhouse Disneys and Disney Channels in 2009. The music-heavy romp stars a pack of animals on wheels who explore their natural habitat, laying the groundwork for a pro-environmental message that seems to be all the rage right now.

• Spanish production company Neptuno Filmshas announced the acquisition by Disney Channel Latin America of the cable TV rights for their new pre-school series Zoo Mix (104 x 3'). This acquisition enables Disney Channel Latin America to offer their youngest viewers a high-quality series that will familiarize children with different animal species.
