Looking to help the earthquake relief effort in a kid-targeted way, co-producers Mike Young Productions and China-based Global Digital Creations have donated the opening weekend ticket sales for Happy Little Submarines (a.k.a. Dive Olly Dive!) to rebuilding schools in Sichuan.

The province’s elementary schools were virtually wiped out by the massive earthquake that rocked the region in May, killing close to 70,000 people and leaving 4.8 million more homeless.

Despite these devastating circumstances, more than 113,000 people came out for the debut of Happy Little Submarines during the June 1 Children’s Day weekend. And box office revenue generated at 260 Digital Cinema Multiplexes across China was enough to completely rebuild one or two schools in Sichuan.
