Marking his first broadcast appearance in France, HIT’s venerable tank engine Thomas will debut on France 5 in December.
The terrestrial broadcaster has picked up the first two series of the CGI show, which is now airing on more than 185 countries in 25-plus languages.
France Television Distribution will capitalize on Thomas’s TV stronghold as HIT’s French licensing agent on the property, and a first range of consumer products is in the pipe to roll out in 2009. In a recent interview with KidScreen, HIT president and CEO Jeff Dunn hinted that he was looking at possibly opening a French office to support the presence of Thomas in that country.
