Disney eyes Europe, acquires outstanding Jetix shares

To increase its kids and family effort across the pond, Disney has entered into agreements to acquire outstanding shares of Jetix Europe.

Disney is looking reach its audience and distribution partners by implementing more targeted branding, with more family-friendly programming and locally produced content across the continent.

The transaction, expected to happen before the year’s end, will see Disney owning 96% of Jetix, with the intent of obtaining 100% ownership of Jetix shares through statutory buy-out proceedings, as well as terminating Jetix’s listing on Euronext Amsterdam.

Disney acquired original interest Jetix Europe when it purchased Fox Family Worldwide in 2001.
