Girls across the pond will soon be deciding whether they’re on Team Edward or Team Jacob. London-based Contender Entertainment Group has been appointed the UK licensor for the movie property by Summit Entertainment.
The movie, based on the runaway bestselling book series from Stephenie Meyer, has already been racking up the numbers at the US box office, exceeding US$180 million in ticket sales. Contender will be looking for licensee opps in apparel, posters, gifts, make-up and beauty products.
The story follows the complicated romance between the immortal vampire Edward and human teenager Bella. The book has sold more than 27 million copies and the film sequel, New Moon, has already been greenlit. Contender will also retain the UK rights for the second film.
