UK-based brand manager and producer Coolabi has taken the rights to Young Samurai, the children’s book series by Chris Bradford.

The deal, struck with the Hollywood-based Intellectual Property Group on behalf of The Viney Agency, will see Coolabi digging into developing The Way of the Warrior across various media. The first volume in the trilogy tells the story of Jack Fletcher, an English boy who is sent to samurai school in 17th century Japan to become the first foreign samurai.

Puffin published The Way of the Warrior last August and is currently in its sixth printing. Disney-Hyperion is set to publish the book in the US this spring and the trilogy rights have been sold to another 15 foreign-language territories.
