It’s going to be a busy year for 9 Story Entertainment, the Toronto-based prodco and distribution company, as it announces a number of projects under its belt.

Survive This is a 13 x 22-minute live-action series that follows eight 14- to 16-year-olds who decide to test their survival skills in the wilderness for three weeks with no food, shelter and (gasp) no internet or video games. The series has been commissioned for YTV Canada and is set to hit the air in April.

On the animation front, 9 Story is co-producing Wibbly Pig, a 52 x 10-minute series with UK-based Wish Films. The series, based on award-winning books by Mick Inkpen about a porcine character whose daily tasks become a comedy routine, is slated for a fall delivery. The prodco will co-distribute the new animated series with BBC Worldwide and has already snapped up broadcast agreements with TVO and Knowledge Network in Canada.

Meanwhile, Best Ed, the 52 x 11-minute original series about dog Ed and his squirrel friend Buddy, is slated for completion this April and has already been presold to Cartoon Network for the EMEA, Korea and ABC Australia.

And Peep and the Big Wide World season four, with six new eps, will return to Canada’s TVO, Knowledge Network and SRC.
