Preschoolers and their iPhone-toting parents will soon be able to watch their favorite PBS Kids Sprout shows on the go, as the pubcaster has inked a deal with New Wave Entertainment that will bring Sprout content to the mobile media handset.
Designed by The Studio at New Wave, parents and kids will be able to stream three- to four-minute Sprout podcasts, play games and view a programming schedule with clips in a branded Sprout player customized for the iPhone.
The Sprout Player, slated to launch later this month, will stream podcasts available at Apple’s iTunes store, and will come with simple audio instructions. The app also features an area where parents can click on promo clips for upcoming events.
Dress Chica, an extension of a game at SproutOnline.com, is one of the first to migrate to the iPhone; it lets kids touch and drag dress-up items onto the character, or shake the iPhone to make Chica dance.
