Paris is getting a new animation player as family entertainment prodco Studio100 is launching self-funded Studio100 Animation that will concentrate on creating children’s programming.
The new studio is also seeking out co-finance and project development opps and Jo Daris will manage the team and oversee the startup’s operations as GM. Jan Van Rijsselberge, meanwhile, is also aboard the exec team as creative officer, serving as the studio’s creative head and spearheading new brand development, as well as working on making over existing Studio100 IPs. Djamila Missoum joins as line producer, structuring and coordinating productions, and Thorsten Wegener takes up the role of head of business affairs.
Studio100 Animation will be looking to build relationships with partners, specializing in family-oriented toons with classic remakes and original creations. The company will initially have production capacity of two animations a year, starting with Super Mega Hyper Pets, a joint-venture with Canuck prodco Amberwood Productions, and Rescue 4U with Ireland’s Magma Films.
