Nintendo’s come a long way since introducing the Game Boy back in the 80s, and now this spring, the gaming giant will be bringing the Nintendo DSi system State-side.
With a US launch date of April 5 and MSRP of US $169.99, the DSi is the third iteration of Nintendo’s handheld devices, which has a range of new features, most notably two cameras that allow for an immersive digital gaming experience. One camera is on the exterior and the second faces the user when the DSi is flipped open, which offers up opportunities for developers to create new gaming experiences.
The DSi also comes with a sound app, which can be used as an interactive voice recorder and music player, where users can access a variety of audio filters, control pitch and speed of audio and music files. Also featured on the new device is a stereo headphone output where users listen to music saved on an SD card.
It will have backwards compatibility with Nintendo DS games, though no port for Game Boy Advance cartridges.
